WebP to Text
WebP is a common browser and screenshot export format. Chrome often saves a capture or a “Save image as” download as WebP, and modern sites serve still images that way to keep files small. Converting a WebP to text means running OCR on that file, like a UI screenshot, a saved tab, or a graphic that only exists as pixels, so you can select and copy the words.
Screenshot2Text reads WebP files in your browser. Drop the file, let Tesseract.js run locally, then copy the output. We do not upload the WebP for OCR. JPG and PNG are also accepted on this same reader: a camera JPEG is a better fit for /jpg-to-text, and a lossless desktop capture belongs on /png-to-text. Recognition stays in this tab.
File quality still matters. A WebP that is a tiny thumbnail, a huge retina capture of an entire desktop, or type sitting on a busy wallpaper can hide letters. Crop to the region you need. Lossy WebP can soften thin UI fonts the same way a re-saved JPEG does. Very large files are processed on your device, so the first run may pause briefly while small recognition files are fetched (they stay cached after).
Typical WebP-to-text jobs include a Chrome screenshot saved as WebP, a still image copied from a modern website, or a UI export that happens to use this format. Clear printed UI type works best. Neon-on-neon signs and handwriting are weaker. Drop one WebP or several. PDFs work on this same reader if you have those instead. Everything is free.
